Julia Carole Lewis Jordan, 47, of Nashville, Tenn., died July 21, 2017, in Nashville, after a long illness.
She leaves her husband, Jeffery L. Jordan; her parents, Reva Rice Lewis and James C. Lewis of Catlettsburg; her two daughters and sons-in-law, Corie Kathleen Prater and Matthew W. Prater of Nashville and Emily Carole Warren and Shane F. Warren of Morehead; her granddaughter, Leah Kathleen Prater of Nashville; her uncle, Gary D. Lewis and wife Donna of Paintsville.
Her maternal grandparents, A. G. and Effie H. Rice; and her paternal grandparents, D. A. and Viola B. Lewis, preceded her in death.
She was born Feb. 26, 1970, in Ashland.
Julie spent much of her youth in Sandy Hook and graduated from Elliott County High School in 1987. She graduated Magna cum laude with a bachelor’s degree in communications and business data processing from Morehead State University in 1990 and a master’s degree in library science from the University of Kentucky in 1994. Julie moved to Nashville in 2004 to work for United Methodist Communications where she served as project manager of the web team until retiring in 2016. Prior to moving, she worked at Morehead State University as an administrator in distance learning systems.
Known for her strong faith, Julie touched hundreds of people with her humble, kind, and serving spirit. She was a member of Bellevue United Methodist Church in Nashville. After becoming a Christian at the age of 14, she was a member of Sandy Hook United Methodist Church where she taught Sunday School and Children’s Church. She was a member of Christian Youth Center in Sandy Hook and participated in many activities and teaching the Small Miracles class. She was a former member of Morehead United Methodist Church and a member of United Methodist Women’s group. Her hobbies included knitting, attending concerts and playing with Leah.
