Obituary

Sarah Elizabeth Doubleday, “Sally” died on November 8, 2018 of cancer surrounded by family, friends and caregivers at Alive Hospice.

She is survived by her parents Jo and Ben Doubleday of Nashville, sister Margaret Doubleday of Falls Church, VA, and niece Allison Doubleday of Odenton, MD.

Born in Nashville on January 17, 1955, Sally was a graduate of The Harpeth Hall School, the University of North Carolina and received her M.B.A. from the University of Washington.  Following graduation from the University of North Carolina, Sally received a commission from Navy Officer Candidate School and served as a U.S. Navy officer on active duty for nine years. After leaving the Navy and completing her M.B.A. degree, she worked for two technology firms in California: Hewlett-Packard Company and Xilinx, Inc.

Sally returned to live in Nashville in 2001 and enjoyed several full-time and part-time jobs until 2016.  She worked at the Maryland Farms YMCA from 2008-2016.  She took great pleasure in her volunteer work for Bunny Rescue, from her membership in The Woman’s Club of Nashville and in the joys of friendship with her tennis, bridge and yoga groups.

The family would like to thank the many wonderful friends who rallied to support Sally during her illness.

“My body’s path has ended, I wish no final mark for my journey.

My soul is free to be at peace with the Lord.

The love that I have given and been given has no end.” SD

According to her wishes, there will be no service. A private natural burial will occur in the nature preserve at Larkspur Conservation at Taylor Hollow.  If so inclined, memorial contributions may be made to the charity of your choice or the World Wildlife Fund or by mail: 1250 Twenty-Fourth St. N.W., Washington, DC 20090-7180 or to the House Rabbit Society, 148 Broadway, Richmond, CA  94804.
