Obituary

Peter Eric Tierney of Mt. Juliet, Tennessee passed away peacefully at home Thursday March 16, 2023, in the early hours of the morning. His two daughters, Jasmine and Jade, were by his side.

Peter Eric Tierney was born in Ishpeming, Michigan, December 15, 1954 to Enid Edna and Bob Dwyer Tierney. Peter’s family moved to Northern California where he stayed until he relocated to Tennessee to be closer to his school-age daughters that had recently moved there. And a few short years he became “Mr. Pete” after the birth of his first grandchild, Willow. He would always be Mr. Pete to his family from then on.

Peter spent most of his work career in Office Supply and Distribution. He had a second to none work ethic and in late 2020, he retired from his role as an inventory control supervisor from S.P. Richards after more than 20 years with the company.

Outside of work, Peter lived a quiet, modest life. He stayed close to home mostly and loved Saturday College Game Days so he could watch his Norte Dame Fighting Irish. It was his dream to go to a game at South Bend. Peter’s additional hobbies included his grandkids and their activities and events. For almost 30 years he has been at races, ballgames, births, craft shows, birthday parties, and graduations. He was a man truly devoted to his children and grandchildren. He spent several weekends babysitting so his daughters could work, and all of the kids loved to go to Mr. Pete’s. He always made them baked chicken and macaroni when they slept over, and all of his grandchildren speak of the same memory, each having the experience on different occasions over the years.

Peter knew something about everything. He didn’t play basketball but knew the game. He could play any instrument secretly but only encouraged the kids to learn. He watched enough go-cart races to become an expert in the sport and Brayden’s number one fan. He was a hip, well-dressed grandfather always up to date with the latest trends.

Pete can still be seen every single day in the faces of his grandchildren, Willow, Garrett, Brayden, Jack, Cannon, Elizabeth, Miller, and Amelia “The Choach“. Also is great grandson Abel. He will live on through his grandchildren that he loves so much.

The family will be laying Peter to rest at Larkspur Conservation at Taylor Hollow in Westmoreland, Tennessee on Saturday, March 25th, 2023 at 1:00 PM. If you wish to attend, please plan on hiking a small distance to the graveside space.

The family would also like to thank Kevin Woodard, Sarah Maier, Holly Taylor , and Kelly Jennings , and many more for all of the support and care that you gave to Peter and his family in the past several months. We are so blessed and eternally grateful.

Arrangements are entrusted to Spring Hill Funeral Home and Cemetery, "Where Nashville Comes to Remember."
