Obituary
Mary Beth Walton of Nashville, Tennessee, age 77, died on the afternoon of Tuesday, September 13th, 2022. She died at home due to complications from cancer, surrounded by her sons, held in love.
Mary was born and raised in Nashville, Tennessee, to her father, Clyde Heyboer, and mother, Ica Mai Heyboer. She has one brother, Mike (spouse, Sandy). She was a diligent student, an avid reader, a bit of a tomboy, and graduated from Central High. She married William L. Walton on July 17th, 1964. After a time working at National Life Insurance, she was hired as the Secretary of Woodbine Baptist Church, where she worked for the rest of her life, 45+ years. She loved to sew, read mystery novels, garden, watch movies, talk on the phone, and laugh.
She is survived by her sons Christopher, Jeremy (spouse, Jennifer Talbott), and Marcus, her grandchildren Haley, Austin, Jackson, and Elijah, and her brother Mike. Her husband of 55 years, William (who went by Buddy or Bill), preceded her in death on February 18th, 2020.
She will be buried in a small family gathering at Larkspur Conservation on the afternoon of September 23rd. Her husband Bill's ashes will be interred with her, as per her request. A Memorial Service open to the wider public will be held at 11am on September 24th, in the Sanctuary at The Church at Woodbine, with a small reception to follow in the Chapel.
Mary's life was characterized by loving devotion to her family and her ministry in the Church, great gratitude, a spirit of service to others, and deep joy. She is already so dearly missed.
