June Zoe Wilkinson (Dass) passed away at age 79 in Nashville, TN on August 12, 2026

Born in Woodbrook, Trinidad and Tobago, June was the third of four daughters of Mona and Sookdeo Dass. After graduating from Victoria College in Trinidad, she continued her education at the University of London in England, where she trained in nursing and midwifery. She began her nursing career in London, Ontario, before moving to New York City, where she cared for newborns in the neonatal intensive care unit at Mount Sinai Beth Israel Hospital. She later married Dr. Grant Robert Wilkinson and moved with him to Nashville, Tennessee. Together they had two daughters, Tracey and Erika. She would soon return to nursing, working in the neonatal intensive care unit at Vanderbilt University Medical Center and later in the surgical intensive care unit at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center, continuing her career until 2005.

June was the devoted mother of Tracey Allyson Wilkinson and Erika Lynne Wilkinson and made many sacrifices for their benefit. While she had many struggles later in life, she was always loved by many in addition to her daughters including her sons in law Hussein Banai and Andrew Lynch, five grandchildren Elyse Banai, Eleanor Banai, Darby Lynch, Elliot Lynch, and Wesley Lynch, and three sisters Hilda Dass, Thora D. Gonzalez, and Linda Galasso (John). June was preceded in death by her mother, Mona Dass and her father, Sookdeo Dass.

June was an avid reader and enjoyed the outdoors, especially long walks through gardens and open landscapes. She was buried naturally at Larkspur Conservation in TN, surrounded by sunshine, her favorite flowers and butterflies. She will be remembered for her generosity, impeccable taste, and her ability to make memories for those around her.
