Obituary

Nancy Koney was born in Cleveland, Ohio, the beloved daughter of Dorothy and Orville. After Orville’s passing, Dorothy later married Leonard Forster, and together they raised Nancy alongside her three brothers: Gary (“Butch”), Gary, and Bruce.

Nancy graduated from John Marshall High School and soon after married Norbert. Together, they welcomed two daughters, Renée and Rochelle. Nancy later married William Koney and moved to Westlake, Ohio, where her loving household grew to include three teenagers—Ed, James, and Kris.

Nancy was a grandmother to Scott, Jared, and Jessica, and a proud great-grandmother to Sean Jr. and Jack. Her greatest joys were simple and sincere: spending time with family and friends, being in nature, and giving of herself through volunteer work. She shared many fulfilling years volunteering alongside Don and Arlene Spence at St. Vincent de Paul, and later with her daughter Rochelle at the Clearwater Marine Aquarium.

Nancy lived with kindness, joy, and an open heart. She faced life with grace and left it peacefully, surrounded by the love of those she held dear.

A green burial will be held to honor Nancy’s wishes for a return to the natural world she loved so deeply. Burial will take place at 10 am on Thursday, June 12, 2025, at Larkspur Conservation, 155 Bear Carr Rd, Westmoreland, TN 37186. Please wear sturdy shoes and dress appropriately for the weather.

In lieu of flowers, the family invites those wishing to make a memorial contribution to consider St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or The Nature Conservancy.
